Lily's Retirement

Lily's decided it's time to end her career with Creative Dance and begin martial arts. Her martial art of choice is Tai Chi. The kind people of the Taoist Tai Chi Society have allowed Lily to take an adult beginning Tai Chi class because there are no classes for beginning children in the entire Portland/Vancouver area. She is currently the youngest Tai Chi student in the area. Nicholette takes class with her. Lily is very serious about Tai Chi. Needless to say, she's retiring from dance. Here are some shots from her final performance. The title of their dance was "Haunted House". Ms. Liz Borromeo is her instructor at Columbia Dance Ensemble and she is, according to Nicholette, the BEST dance teacher for children that she's ever had the pleasure of knowing. I trust what she says since Nicholette danced for so many years. This year, Lily's class did their own choreography. Lily is a dragon guard and is keeping out the "intruder" of the dragon's lair. The music was the inspiration - it was haunting.

Memorial Day Potluck

Here are some pictures. I will post more later. Lots of good vegetarian and vegan food. Welcome Summertime. This was the 4th annual Memorial Day Potluck. Can't believe we've been here for six years. This year we dedicated the potluck to all the people that have died in this useless war. The hope for the future rests with the little ones. Let's teach them well.
