Nikon D80 and D200
A new perk at work (while it lasts) is that I get the opportunity to borrow some cool digital cameras. I hadn't tried any digital SLR's, so I borrowed the Nikon D80 and D200. They are signed up pretty far in advance for the weekends but they are usually free during the week. Over the past couple weeks, I've tried out both cameras. Since I only had them for three or four days during the week, I've only snapped pics around the house or at the playground.
The D80 is great. I wish I had one. The controls are easy to use and the image quality is top notch. The D200 is just fine too but the controls took some getting used to. It's also heavier than the D80.I am a long time SLR (film) user but I've been using a digital point a shoot for the past several years. I'd rationalized that the point and shoot was good enough for the snapshot types of pictures I was taking. Let me tell you, going back to an SLR was fantastic. I really want one now.
The camera lending is part of a digital imaging center where we are able to print out photos on all sorts of media. That is a real double bonus since I have more impetus to actually print out the photos I take. The attached photos were taken with the D200.
